core-couple.jpgHeritage Square is a true oasis in senior living and health care. As a not-for-profit corporation, we can provide affordable housing, while our staff can focus on one mission: Providing quality care to our residents in a warm and loving environment.

Supported by the Community
Since its founding in 1974, Heritage Square has met with an overwhelming outpouring of support from the Dixon community. Our many volunteers enrich the lives of our residents. A solid base of generous donors has enabled us to provide senior housing and health care for over 900 + individuals over the past three decades.

Caring Facility Respects the Individual
Our facility – an environment that respects the dignity of each resident as a productive and independent individual – is absolutely unique. We believe in empowering our residents mission-statement, It shall be the mission of Heritage Square, a non-profit corporation, to provide quality care in a warm and loving environment for our residents. We shall make every effort to respect the dignity of each resident as a productive and independent individualwith options and choices (we tailor meals to individual diets), and we believe in helping our residents maintain the normalcy of their daily lives so that they can continue doing what they love.

Resident Council of Peers
An elected Resident Council of peers helps make management decisions, determining how best to improve the experience of residents at Heritage Square. Their votes do make a difference. The council was allowed to choose a new vehicle – a sedan with a leather interior – for the residents’ free transportation, and the council helped the Food Service Director find a pork chop recipe that everyone would enjoy.

Many individuals continue working and volunteering in the community after moving to Heritage Square. One man who was wheelchair-bound when he entered Heritage Square can now move freely with the aid of a walker; he has learned to use the computer in our Ronald Reagan Room and he leads a vibrant life. His family is thrilled to see his spirit reemerge under our care at Heritage Square.
